Young reacts to Dagenham exit
Caretaker Dagenham & Redbridge boss Lee Young has given his thoughts on the Daggers’ elimination at the hands of Millwall.
He said: “Today we’re probably filled with a little bit of disappointment.
“In the first half, we didn’t really show our true selves.
“I think we were overcome with fear and a little bit of emotion.
“I do have to remember that it is the biggest game that some of the players have played in and the biggest stadium they’ve played in and things like that.
“But if when we strip it all back, it’s just a football match. [I’m disappointed in that, but on the flip side of it, to see so many familiar faces in the crowd and the players go and perform like they did in the second half – for 20 minutes I thought we were outstanding.
“But if we ant to keep striving to get better, we got to try and sustain that and make that longer.”
Alex Neil reacts
Millwall boss Alex Neil has given his thoughts on The Lions’ routine third-round win over Dagenham & Redbridge.
The Scot said: “I thought it was a good performance, I enjoyed watching the lads play. I thought out appetite and approach to the game was great. I think you’ve got to give Dagenham some credit.
“One nil at half time, it probably could’ve been more. I thought we had an opportunity to score more goals in the first half.
“And they made us wait late in the second half to get that second goal.
“And I think from that point of view it’s brilliant, for me, to be able to give some of the younger boys a run.
“And there’s nothing better than when one of them comes on and does a great bit of skill and slides one into the bottom corner.
“From that perspective, if I could’ve written a script before the game, that would’ve pretty much been it.”
