Al Malaeb Newspaper – Atletico Madrid continued its winning streak by beating hosts Elche 4-0 to qualify for the quarter-finals of the King's Cup on Wednesday evening.
Atletico Madrid easily outscored its opponent and took advantage of its numerical disadvantage after Elche's Nicolas Fernandez was sent off in the 50th minute, giving the Madrid team its fifteenth consecutive victory in all local and continental competitions.
Atletico ended the first half ahead with two goals from Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth in the 8th and 29th minutes from a penalty kick.
In the second half, Argentine duo Rodrigo Riquelme and Julian Alvarez scored the third and fourth goals for Atletico Madrid in the 61st and 75th minutes.
After Valencia, Leganes, Getafe and Barcelona, Atletico Madrid has become the fifth team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Spanish King's Cup.
The eighth finals of the Spanish King's Cup will conclude on Thursday evening with three matches, with Real Madrid playing Celta Vigo, Real Sociedad against Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao against Osasuna.
