David Moyes has not even been in the job at Everton for a week and he already finds himself preparing for his second game in charge.
Everton need to secure themselves some further firepower in the January transfer window to pull away from the relegation battle.
Moyes’ side find themselves in a real sticky patch with just a single point keeping them adrift of the drop zone.
Question marks may be asked over certain players at the club as Everton go into Sunday’s game as the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League.
During Friday’s press conference saw Moyes share Everton’s interest in Ernest Nuamah from Lyon.
However, there have also been some players the 60-year-old has inherited from Sean Dyche, who have impressed him in Finch Farm training.
David Moyes impressed by Everton’s Harrison Armstrong
Everton have big expectations for Harrison Armstrong and the career he could have at Goodison Park.
At a time when Everton are having to watch their spending very carefully, a young prospect making a name for himself from the academy is exactly what the club could do with.
And it was made apparent at Finch Farm on Friday that Moyes is one of those who has liked what he has seen from the 17-year-old.
“I’ve been hugely impressed. I mean we’ve only had a couple of days training, so it’s very difficult to judge things and work out how people are and what they can do,” Moyes said.
“And you have games, so you’re preparing. you’re not always doing things, but you can see them in big areas and how they can they play in small areas, as well.
“But I have to say, what I’ve seen of him, I’ve been hugely impressed. And I think he’s got a bit of personality, as well.”
Even Dyche admitted Armstrong has a big future ahead of him at Everton.
But it is Leighton Baines who has seen the most out of the 17-year-old whilst acting as the manager of Everton’s U18s side.
Harrison Armstrong impressed for Everton vs Peterborough United
Armstrong’s first start in the FA Cup came against Peterborough United last week just after Dyche had been sacked.
Armstrong has been impressing in Everton training for a while now, and he was able to show his talent in front of Goodison.
- 68 minutes played
- 1 assist
- 47 touches
- 86% pass accuracy
- 1 tackle
- 1 interception
Considering Everton are struggling with injuries, an opportunity could arise for the youngster under Moyes.
However, the 60-year-old will be aware that the remainder of the season is about securing Everton’s Premier League survival.
