Changing the name of the European Super League and broadcasting the matches for free International sport
Al Malaeb Newspaper – The organizers of the European Super League Football Championship project today, Tuesday, unveiled a new name for the competition, which they promised to broadcast for free to fans, as part of stepping up their efforts to create a tournament which competes with the European Champions League competition, which is organized by the European Union (UEFA).
The A22 agency sent a proposal to the European Football Association (UEFA) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to recognize the new “European club” football competition under the name “Unified League”.
The project is unlikely to be recognized as the two governing bodies strongly oppose the project, although giant clubs, led by Spain's Real Madrid, are promoting the idea.
The A22 group revealed that it has always faced 'fierce opposition' and explained in a letter to UEFA that this opposition does not agree with UEFA being 'open, transparent and free from conflicts of interest at all times' ' must be.
A22 pointed to a ruling by the European Court of Justice last year that said FIFA and UEFA cannot make other competitions dependent on their license, with the two governing bodies interpreting part of the ruling as a victory for them.
UEFA has made a radical change to the Champions League format this season in an attempt to remove the threat of the Super League. The new changes include establishing a competition phase with the participation of 36 teams, with an increased number of matches being held. .
The idea of holding the Super League in 2021 quickly collapsed after English clubs were forced to withdraw from the project shortly after the announcement due to fan protests.
Fans expressed dissatisfaction with the competition plan, which only allows major clubs to participate, in light of its inability to apply the principle of sporting merit.
The idea has now developed into the 'Unified League', where the rankings in the local competitions determine the clubs' participation in the tournament, as is currently the case in the European Champions League.
It is noteworthy that among important commitments for holding the competition is the creation of a live broadcast platform, where all matches in the new competition will be available to watch for free.
