Barcelona ended their losing streak against Lyon to win their third Women’s Champions League title in four years on Saturday.

Aitana Bonmatí, the world’s best player, scored a goal in the second half, and Alexia Putellas added a second in stoppage time, allowing Barcelona to secure a 2-0 victory after losing the previous two finals to the French team.

The Catalan club had never won in their four previous matches against Lyon, which remains the most successful women’s team with eight European titles.

In front of a record crowd of 50,827 spectators in the final, Barcelona became the third team to win three Women’s Champions League titles, compared to Lyon’s eight and Eintracht Frankfurt’s four.
