Hansi Flick leads the Catalan press

The German coach Hans Flick is expected to arrive in Barcelona on Tuesday, at a time when media reports have linked his name with the Spanish team to replace Xavi Hernandez.

The local Catalan press has dubbed Tuesday as “Hans Flick Day,” and sources have mentioned the possibility of him being announced as the new head coach of Barcelona later.

The “Football España” website reported that it is not expected for Flick to be presented to the press, as Barcelona feels it is not yet ready to face the media.

Xavi gives up his dues

It added that Barcelona’s management is still discussing the financial details related to Xavi’s departure.

Xavi confirmed on Sunday night that he would not demand the money owed to him for the last year of his contract, which the Spanish sports newspaper “AS” estimates at 12 million euros, but he will ensure that his assistants receive their dues.

The source explained that “the salaries of the staff amount to around 3 million euros, and Xavi knows that the club is capable of covering this amount.”

This concerns the assistants, the fitness coach, the physiotherapist, the media officer, and other staff members.
